A story that talks about big infrastructures
worldwide and links many major companies.
The Group is one of the leaders in the Italian construction sector, with an overall turnover of over 1,300 million euros and a field of action that goes from Europe to North and South America, Asia and Africa.
The Società Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua
is a historic Italian operator in the sector of infrastructures. Founded on April 7, 1880, it immediately gained a significant role in the building industry,
at first in the specific sector of execution of waterworks, extending its activity step by step to all the other construction sectors. By the end of the 1960s, it had changed into a
well-structured group formed by various general and specialized businesses.
In 1997, following the plan of privatization of the companies of the IRI Group, to which it belonged,
the Società Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua
was acquired by the Ferfina Holding, which was already controlling other historic
Italian construction companies such as Ferrocemento – Costruzioni e Lavori Pubblici Spa, which, in its turn, had incorporated
Recchi Costruzioni Generali Spa and Gambogi Spa.
Later, in order to face an increasingly competitive international market, the Società
Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua
and Ferrocemento – Costruzioni e Lavori Pubblici merged, keeping the older of the names, Società Italiana per
. The group is still led by Ferfina SpA with corporate holding and financial functions. In the following years, under the
leadership of the controlling Holding, the Group grew further, also thanks to the acquisitions of Cossi Costruzioni in Sondrio and of INSO
in Florence. Today, it is a consolidated and integrated group of businesses that offers cutting-edge solutions to the construction market.
In its more than a hundred-year old eventful history, the Group can boast the construction of dams and hydroelectric systems; roads and highways;
railways and subways; ports and maritime works; waterworks and irrigation projects; airports; underground works; civil engineering works
for thermal and nuclear power stations; housing projects; office buildings; sport and industrial facilities and hospitals, as well as
works to protect the environmental and monumental heritage, which, for their quality and technical commitment, have gained unanimous appreciation at international level.
